A VISION OF COLLECTIVE HEALING
AMAKABA IS A CENTER FOR THE WISDOM OF THE EARTH, THE BODY AND SKY, IN THE AMAZONIAN FOREST OF FRENCH GUIANA.
EARTH
The art of nourishment
Amakaba is at home in the Amazonian Forest. We cohabit with an exuberance of life forms and learn from the wisdom and rhythm of the land. This environment has much to teach us if we are humble enough to listen.
Our commitment to honoring the forest and preserving its wealth goes hand in hand with allowing it to provide food and shelter. Agriculture can thrive in the forest.
With an agroecological approach, Amakaba is planning to set up a cacao farm and a natural dye garden, alongside meliponiculture (bee keeping of native Amazonian bees). We are currently nursing cacao seedlings in our nursery, searching for farm land.
We feed the soil, people, and spirits... cooking, singing and blessing mother Earth and Mèt Gran Bwa (forest spirit) for the abundance they provide as we gather in community around a fire and home-grown food.

BODY
The art of belonging
Our bodies are wise like the earth, remembering every sound from our mothers’ womb til the sound of creation itself. The body is memory: genetic, ancestral, evolutionary, elemental and karmic. Through movement and vibration, we can mold these lineages of memory by balancing the elements within us (earth, water, fire, air and space) so as to live more gracefully with the elements around us. Amakaba shares the science of Yoga, not as mere exercise but as a profound practice of inner and social transformation.
Devoted to womb wisdom, Amakaba participates in the global movement for conscious births, hoping to develop a network of doulas and traditional midwifes throughout French Guiana. We support mothers and families (of all kinds) in their journeys to parenthood; and provide guidance for celebrations and transitions from first periods, pregnancy, birth, adoption, abortion, menopause, womb wounds, and loss.

The art of dissolution
Amakaba is inspired by the architecture and mystic of the universe, in awe at the myriad of ways its creation has been described throughout time, and how new scenarios keep being made about our origins. Amakaba gathers cosmological stories from the amazon and beyond, learning from elders, as well as collaborating with astrophysicists and astronomers, weaving discourses and knowledge systems. Yearning for infinity, from the smallest quantum particles to the immensity of the cosmos, Amakaba bridges worlds, both seen and unseen.
To be in synch with cosmic cycles and planetary rhythms, we celebrate equinoxes, solstices, and the phases of the Moon. We hold night walks through the forest on full moons and gather for astronomical observation. We hope to build an observatory and planetarium to share the wisdom of the sky with many.
