The art of nourishment
Amakaba is at home in the Amazonian Forest. We cohabit with an exuberance of life forms and learn from the wisdom and rhythm of the land. This environment has much to teach us if we become humble enough to listen.

Amakaba is taking care of 11ha of protected forest on the Mont Mahury, a gorgeous mountain on the seashore. We nurture an old patrimonial cacao farm, harvest and transform cacao, to make handmade cacao delights. We have set up the Mother Earth Garden : a pedagological garden of medicinal plants for womb health and are working on a natural dye garden. We hope soon to develop meliponiculture (bee keeping of native Amazonian bees).
Our commitment to honoring the forest and preserving its wealth goes hand in hand with allowing it to provide food and shelter. With an agroecological approach, we believe agriculture can thrive in the forest. We love sharing and promoting agroforestry and syntropic farming practices through our Forest School and days of commlunity farming.
We feed the soil, people, and spirits... singing, cooking, blessing mother Earth and Mèt Gran Bwa (forest spirit) for the abundance they provide as we gather in community to share stories and home-grown food.

L'art d'appartenir
Nos corps incarnent la sagesse de la terre et se souviennent de chaque son depuis le ventre de nos mères jusqu'au son de la création elle-même. Le corps est mémoire : génétique, ancestrale, évolutive, élémentaire et karmique. Par le mouvement et la vibration, nous pouvons refaçonner ces lignées-mémoires en équilibrant les éléments en nous (terre, eau, feu, air et espace) afin de vivre plus gracieusement avec les éléments qui nous entourent.
Dévouée à la sagesse de nos matrices créatrices, Amakaba participe au mouvement mondial pour la naissance consciente, développant un réseau de doulas et d'accoucheuses traditionnelles en Guyane. Nous accompagnons les femmes, les mères et les familles dans leur cheminement vers la parentalité. Nous offrons aussi un soutien pour les célébrations, rituels et les transitions de vie : les premières règles, la grossesse, la naissance, l'adoption, l'avortement, et les deuils.

The art of dissolution
Amakaba is inspired by the architecture and mystic of the universe, in awe at the myriad of ways its creation has been described throughout time, and how new scenarios keep being made about our origins. Amakaba gathers cosmological stories from the amazon and beyond, learning from elders, as well as collaborating with astrophysicists and astronomers, weaving discourses and knowledge systems. Yearning for infinity, from the smallest quantum particles to the immensity of the cosmos, Amakaba bridges worlds, both seen and unseen.
To be in synch with cosmic cycles and planetary rhythms, we celebrate equinoxes, solstices, and the phases of the Moon.
Our itinerant projet Carbet Planetarium, seeks to share our love of the sky throughout French Guiana. While honoring local ancestral readings of the sky, we gather for astronomical observation and sit to hear the stories of chamans, chiefs and elders, unearthing amazonian astronomies of French Guiana.
